In memory of the recently passed James Forbes “Jim” Chapin (July 23, 1919 – July 4, 2009 ), I felt it only right to let you all hear from the big man once again. Jim was probably best known for his work with the moeller technique. If you are going to learn it from someone, then Jim is the man to teach it – and just because he isn’t here anymore does not mean he can’t still teach us a thing or two! Enjoy the video and feel free to leave your comments for Jim below. R.I.P Jim. We will miss you.

Jim,
Great video as usual. You will be sorely missed by the drumming community the world over. I hope God let you take your sticks with you! Boy is he in for a treat!

I had the fine privilege of meeting Jim Chapin many years ago at Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, New York on Tuesday, February 15, 1977. The reason I know this, is because I still have the Newsday advertisement clipping from the event that my Dear Mother gave me; knowing how interested in Drumming and Jazz music I was back then. He was very approachable and even autographed inside the front page saying:
To Allan -
Thank you for using the old “form”
(since my copy was an older version)
